Terms of Use

Welcome to Between Us. These Terms apply to your use of bu.community (the "Site"), to your membership of the Between Us community, and to your attendance at our gatherings. The Site and community are operated by Muselab LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Site, applying for membership or attending a gathering, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can join

Between Us is for adults aged 18 or over. Some gatherings may be open to families; when they are, we'll say so, and parents or guardians remain responsible for their children at all times.

2. Membership

• By application. Membership is by application followed by a personal interview. We review every application individually and may accept or decline any application at our discretion, without having to give a reason.
• Personal. Membership belongs to you and can't be transferred or shared.
• Accurate information. Please give us truthful, up-to-date information and let us know if it changes.
• Fees. Membership is currently free. Some gatherings are ticketed. Prices, and any refund terms, are shown when you register, and payments made through third-party platforms such as Luma are subject to their terms. If we introduce a membership fee, we'll tell you in advance, and it will only apply if you agree to it.
• Leaving. You can end your membership at any time by emailing us or leaving the community chat.
• Suspension or removal. We may suspend or end a membership, or refuse entry to a gathering, if someone breaks these Terms, puts others at risk, or acts in a way that goes against the spirit of the community.

3. Community conduct

Between Us works because people feel safe to be curious, open and generous. When you take part, online or in person, we ask you to:

• treat everyone with respect and kindness, whatever their age, background, identity or views
• respect the confidentiality of conversations. What's shared between us stays between us: you're welcome to share ideas and insights, but please don't attribute personal stories or comments to anyone without their permission.
• not harass, intimidate, discriminate against or behave inappropriately towards anyone, including unwanted physical contact or attention
• not use gatherings or the community chat for unsolicited selling, recruitment or promotion
• not record or broadcast talks or conversations without the host's and speaker's permission
• follow the rules of the venue and any instructions from hosts, facilitators and venue staff
• drink responsibly where alcohol is served. You must be of legal drinking age.

If something or someone makes you uncomfortable, please tell a host at the gathering or email us. We take every report seriously and handle it discreetly.

4. Photos and recordings at gatherings

We sometimes take photos and short videos at gatherings to share the spirit of the community, for example on our Site, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, and in newsletters.

• By attending, you agree that you may appear in these photos and videos, and that we may use them for these purposes without payment.
• Prefer not to be photographed? Tell a host at the start of the gathering, or email us beforehand, and we'll do our best to keep you out of shots.
• Already appear in something we've published? Email us, and we'll remove it from our own channels as soon as reasonably possible. We can't recall material that has already been printed or shared by others.
• Some sessions may be marked as no-photo. Please respect that.
• If you take photos yourself, please ask before photographing others, and don't post images of other members without their consent.

5. Wellness and physical activities

Some gatherings include physical or wellness activities, such as sauna, cold exposure, sound healing, breathwork, tea ceremonies, movement or outdoor activities. These are offered for enjoyment and general wellbeing. They are not medical treatment or advice.

• Your health is your responsibility. Sauna and heat, cold exposure and some other activities can be unsuitable for people with certain conditions. These include heart or blood-pressure conditions, pregnancy, and epilepsy or other seizure disorders, as well as the effects of some medications and of alcohol. If you have any health concerns, please check with your doctor before taking part.
• Participation is voluntary. You can sit out any activity, or stop at any time. Please listen to your body, stay hydrated and tell a host or facilitator immediately if you feel unwell.
• Venues and facilitators. Activities may take place at third-party venues or be led by independent facilitators, who have their own rules and may ask you to sign their own waiver.
• Acknowledgement of risk. By choosing to take part, you understand that physical activities carry inherent risks, including injury, and you accept those risks to the extent permitted by law.
• Allergies. If food or drink is served, let us know about any allergies or dietary needs in advance. We'll do our best to accommodate them but can't guarantee an allergen-free environment.

6. Gatherings and changes

Event details (dates, times, venues, speakers and programmes) can change. We'll let registered guests know about significant changes as soon as we can. If we cancel a ticketed gathering, you'll receive a refund of the ticket price through the platform you paid on. That refund is the limit of our responsibility for the cancellation. Please look after your own belongings at gatherings; we aren't responsible for lost or damaged personal property.

7. The Site and our content

The Site, including its text, design, logo, images and the "Between Us" name, belongs to Muselab LLC or the people who have licensed it to us. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial purposes, but you may not copy, modify or use our content or branding for any other purpose without our written permission.

The Site links to third-party services such as Luma, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

8. What you share with us

When you send us an application, a request or other content, you confirm that it's accurate and yours to share. You allow us to use it to review your application and run the community, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

The Site and our gatherings are provided "as is". Talks, workshops and conversations reflect the views of the people sharing them, and are offered for inspiration and discussion. They are not professional, medical, legal, financial or parenting advice. We don't guarantee that the Site will always be available or error-free, or that any particular outcome, connection or collaboration will result from membership.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Muselab LLC and its founders, team and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site, your membership, or your attendance at or participation in any gathering or activity. Our total liability to you for any claim will not be more than the amount you paid us for the gathering the claim relates to, or US$100 if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence. If you live somewhere that gives you consumer rights these Terms can't override, those rights still apply.

11. Indemnity

If you break these Terms, or if your conduct at a gathering harms someone else, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs we incur as a result, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the community grows. When we do, we'll change the effective date above, and if the changes are significant we'll tell members by email. If you keep using the Site or attending gatherings after a change, you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Pinellas County, Florida, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts. Before going to court, please contact us first. Most concerns can be resolved with a conversation.

14. General

If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right immediately, we haven't given it up. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site and the community.
